April 02, 2016

Rcstars is welcoming the 2016 Qingming Festival and will have a 2-day holiday from April 2nd to 3th, 2016.

The Qingming or Ching Ming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day in English, is a traditional Chinese festival on the first day of the fifth solar term of the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar. Rcstars is welcoming the 2016 Qingming Festival and will have a 2-day holiday from April 2nd to 3th, 2016.

The festival originated from a memorial ceremony held by the ancient emperors, and then followed by the people in folk to sweep tombs and offer sacrifices. Then later generations inherited the ceremony and gradually became Chinese Traditional Festival.

And now the Qingming Festival is an opportunity for celebrants to remember and honour their ancestors at grave sites. And more on Qingming, people go on family outings, start the spring plowing, sing, and dance. Another popular thing to do is to fly kites in the shapes of animals or characters from Chinese opera. Another common practice is to carry flowers instead of burning paper, incense, or firecrackers.
